It was National Burger Day yesterday, 27th August 2014.
I am currently still sulking that I missed out on one of the biggest burger event of the year 😦
Fortunately, I was privileged enough to sample burger royalty Zan Kaufman (of Bleecker St Burger)’s National Burger Day special – The Pizza Burger!
Some brave souls tried, and failed to create this fast food hybrid by combining the much loved pizza and burger. Pizza Hut for example, came up with the CheeseBurger Pizza Crust. DID NOT WORK, in my humble opinion.
Bleecker Street seems to have nailed it! So many times have I thought, while eating a really tasty pizza, “If only it had a bit more meat on it…”. The Bleecker St + Mr Hyde #NationalBurgerDay special consists of:
- A succulent 50-day dry aged beef patty
- Lovingly prepared pizza base sauce
- Parmesan
- Mozzarella – all melty and gooey
- Basil mayo
- Red peper flakes
- All held together in a fluffy sesame bun
My verdict: 8.7/10
Also missed it as there are no decent burger joints near my work. I had to settle for the most boring salad wrap
